Loneliness and isolation

Around us, some people go days without anyone speaking to them.

Take action

  1. Call someone you haven't spoken to in a long time. For no particular reason, that is exactly the point.
  2. Check in on a neighbour who lives alone. A regular hello is worth more than a rare long visit.
  3. Give a few hours to an organization near you, many need presence above all.
  4. Offer a ride or to run an errand for someone with limited mobility.
  5. Invite someone on their own to a meal or an activity you already do. Including costs little.

Myth and reality

"Loneliness means being alone."

Being alone and feeling alone are two different things. Someone can be surrounded, by family, colleagues, neighbours, and still feel deeply isolated. That is why attentive presence matters as much as presence itself.
