The person behind BetterWorld
BetterWorld is not a team, not a foundation, not an algorithm. It is one person. If you are asked for money, you deserve to know who receives it.
Why this page exists
BetterWorld is a company, and it asks you for money. On a site whose entire point is to publish where every dollar goes, hiding who benefits would be the one contradiction that ruins the rest.
So it is written here, plainly, in one place, rather than buried in the terms of use or turned into a checkbox on a payment form.
Who I am
My name is Tristan.
When I was young, I admired the heroes in films. I told myself that one day, when I grew up, I would want to be like them: help others, protect the weakest, and make the world better.
As I grew up, reality caught up with me. I understood that superpowers did not exist. So I focused on my studies and on sport. Even though I had some successes there, I always felt an emptiness. I had the feeling I could do more.
I then became passionate about economics, finance and entrepreneurship. I tried several small projects, without significant results. Then, one evening, I forced myself to ask a simple question: what do I really want?
The answer came clearly. What I really wanted was neither long studies, nor becoming a great football player, nor even becoming rich.
I wanted to fulfil my childhood dream: help people, protect the planet, and have a positive impact on the world.
In 2026, I decided to act. With no money, no network and no experience, I asked myself how a single person could really contribute to making the world better.
Between ambition and reality, the path was not simple. I had to learn, experiment, fail and start over. But by dint of searching and building, an idea became a vision.
That is how BetterWorld was born.
BetterWorld rests on three pillars:
- Make life more affordable by helping people reduce their cost of living, through resources, guides and practical tools.
- Turn good intentions into concrete action, through a system that funds impact projects and organizations working on the ground.
- Educate and raise awareness by sharing content that helps everyone understand the great issues of our time and act at their own scale.
My vision for BetterWorld
For me, BetterWorld is not simply a company. It is a movement.
A movement built on one simple conviction: the world can become better if everyone is given the means to act.
I want to build an organization able to evolve with the world's needs. That is one of the reasons BetterWorld is not a traditional NGO. Its goal is not to stay locked inside a single model, but to keep developing new ways of having an impact.
If a better solution exists tomorrow to help people or protect the planet, BetterWorld must be able to adopt it.
I do not want to create a company that only seeks to generate profit. I want to build an organization that maximizes its impact.
Because in my view, BetterWorld's potential has no limit. And as long as there are problems left to solve, BetterWorld will keep evolving to help solve them.
What BetterWorld is, legally
- A for-profit company, registered in Québec, NEQ 2281941809. Not a non-profit, not a registered charity.
- It cannot issue tax receipts. No contribution made here gives any tax deduction, and the site never claims otherwise.
- Its revenue is declared and taxed like that of any other company.
Where the money comes from
Three sources, and no others:
- The BetterWorld share on contributions to organizations, the part announced before you give, which you choose yourself.
- Direct support, when someone chooses to fund the tool itself rather than an organization. The full amount stays here.
- The shop and affiliate links, disclosed on their own page.
What it pays for
Hosting and the domain. Payment processing fees. The tools, which are free and will stay free. Keeping the directory of more than 900 verified resources up to date, that is the slowest and least visible part of the work. And the time of the person doing all of it.
Said plainly
That last line means a part of this revenue is my income. Not a salary paid by a foundation: the revenue of a company held by one person. Anyone who tells you they run something like this for nothing is either hiding a job, or hiding you.
What I don't do with it
- I never touch the share owed to an organization. It is recorded separately from the moment it arrives, and published with its proof.
- Nothing you type into the tools is sent anywhere. There is no account, no tracking of your entries, nothing to resell.
- No advertising on the site, and no resource is listed because someone paid for it.

None of this is worth much as a promise. The transparency page carries the numbers, the transfers and their proofs, that is what you should judge it on.
