1. Who we are
BetterWorld (led by Tristan Bavota-Bureau) operates the website betterworldmovement.org. For any privacy question, contact us at contact@betterworldmovement.org. The person responsible for the protection of personal information is Tristan Bavota-Bureau, reachable at the same address.
2. Information we collect
- Information you provide voluntarily (e.g. via the contact form or newsletter): name, email address, message content.
- Technical data collected automatically: anonymized usage statistics, browser type, approximate region.
- The QC resource directory requires no account and no personal information to browse.
3. How we use it
- To respond to your requests and provide the help you ask for.
- To send the newsletter, if you subscribed (you can unsubscribe anytime).
- To improve the site and understand how it is used.
4. Cookies and third-party services
To measure site traffic, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics: no cookies, no data that identifies you. No data is sold or used for advertising.
The following services process information on our behalf, each with its own policy: Stripe (payments and contributions), Formspree (contact form), Brevo (newsletter), Shopify (shop), Supabase (contribution records, amounts only, no name or email), Netlify and Cloudflare (hosting and delivery).
4bis. What stays on your device
The budget tool, the debt planner, the meal planner and your display preferences save their data in your browser only. They are never sent to us and we cannot read them. You can erase them yourself: the "Erase" button in each tool, or your browser settings. On a shared device, use "Erase" before you leave.
5. Sharing
We never sell your personal information. It is shared only with service providers needed to operate the site, or when required by law. Some of these providers (e.g. newsletter, forms, payments, donations) may process your data outside Quebec, notably in Europe or the United States. In the event of a confidentiality incident presenting serious risk, we will notify the affected individuals and the Commission d'accès à l'information.
6. Retention
We keep information only as long as necessary for the purposes described, then delete it: contact form messages, up to 12 months after the last reply; newsletter email addresses, until you unsubscribe; payment data, per applicable accounting and tax obligations (6 years).
7. Your rights
Under Québec's Law 25, you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information, to withdraw your consent, and to obtain a copy of your data in a structured, commonly used technological format (portability). To exercise these rights, contact us at contact@betterworldmovement.org.
7bis. Making a complaint
If you believe we mishandled your information, write to contact@betterworldmovement.org with the subject "complaint, privacy". We acknowledge receipt within 5 business days and answer on the substance within 30 days. If our answer does not satisfy you, you can file a complaint with Québec's Commission d'accès à l'information (cai.gouv.qc.ca).
8. Changes
This policy may be updated. Any significant change is announced on this page before it takes effect. The date above indicates the version in force.
